The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissues and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain. During the initial visit, the massage therapist will take a detailed health history and perform an in depth assessment. This will enable the therapist to develop an individualized treatment plan that will be consistent with the patient goals. Massage therapy has a therapeutic effect on the body by working on the muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems. Pain, dysfunction, and stress can be relieved and reversed with massage.

Our active physiotherapy treatments are sessions that extend our therapy services beyond manual therapy, modalities, and exercise therapy. Physiotherapy is a health care profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention carried out by Physiotherapists.

As primary health care professionals, physiotherapists combine in-depth knowledge of how the body works with specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose and treat symptoms of illness, injury or disability.

PT management commonly includes prescription of or assistance with specific exercises, manual therapy, education, manipulation and other interventions. In addition, PTs work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles, providing services to individuals and populations to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout the lifespan.

With your independence in mind, a physiotherapist’s goal is to restore, maintain and maximize your strength, function, movement and overall well-being.

Physiotherapists prescribe personalized therapeutic exercises, and provide essential education about the body, what keeps it from moving well, how to restore mobility and independence, and how to avoid or prevent bodily harm.

Additional Physiotherapy Services:

Matt Graduated from Massage Therapy at Georgian College in August of 2018. Since 2016 Matt has worked as a Personal Trainer, working with clients on various active goals to improve their lifestyle and overall health. Matt’s route to massage began when he experienced the benefits of seeing an RMT during the rehabilitation of his own injuries. Being an active sportsman, Matt has competed in many different sports such as swimming, running, soccer and weightlifting. He has sprained his ankles and also torn a meniscus in his knee. Without the help of Registered Massage Therapists, he would not have been able to return to his sport as quickly as he did.

Matts active lifestyle started at the age of 3, when he started in swimming lessons. He then joined the local competitive swim team aged 5 and at the age of 11 he was approached to swim for the Great Britain Development Squad. Matt moved to Canada from England in 2010, where he continued competitive swimming with Oakville Aquatics and York University. Since then Matt has competed in many running and triathlon events, being selected for the Canadian Age Group Triathlon World Championship team in 2019.

While working as a Personal Trainer he has learnt valuable knowledge in the relationship of exercise and recovery. As a result of this new knowledge, Matt has enabled clients to return to their sport after injury. He has also helped clients lose upwards of 50lbs, resulting in a healthier lifestyle. Matt has a desire to continue to learn, grow and work with a clientele of all ages in rehabilitation and body maintenance, who aspire for a healthier lifestyle.

Nick’s interest in the field of physiotherapy began in high school while playing football and competing in martial arts. He was fascinated by the abilities of the human body and wanted to learn more about the effects of exercise on athletic performance.

This led him to attend Brock University, where he attained an Honours Bachelor degree in Kinesiology in 2013. During his time at Brock he developed further interest in rehabilitation and injury prevention as a student therapist in the athletic therapy clinic.

These interests led him to pursue his Master of Science in Physiotherapy degree at McMaster University, which he completed in 2015. Nick is excited to begin his career as a part of the Kinetic Physiotherapy team. He is dedicated to provide the highest level of evidence-based and patient-centered care in order to help patients reach their goals.

Graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo in 2015, Patrick then committed to an additional four years of education at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton. He graduated with the designation of Master in Practice of Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences (M. OMSc.) in 2020.

Patrick found his passion for learning the anatomy and physiology of the human body during his undergraduate studies and while swimming competitively and playing waterpolo. He was able to further enhance his understanding throughout the four years he was a volunteer teaching assistant in the human cadaver labs on the University campus.

Choosing to pursue Osteopathy was a decision Patrick made based on his appreciation for the art and science of the field of manual therapy. Having close family who work in the field helped him decide this was the right avenue for him and he has never looked back.

Meet Alex, a dedicated physiotherapist with a dynamic journey that reflects a true passion for health and wellness. After graduating from Brock University with a degree in Kinesiology, Alex’s diverse experiences began with assisting clients in post-heart surgery recovery and leading exercise classes for spinal cord injury patients.

Further honing skills as a personal trainer for 1.5 years, Alex discovered a joy in one-on-one collaborations, pointing him toward physiotherapy as the ultimate career goal. This path led Alex to London, England, where he studied at Brunel University for two years, completing his Master’s of Science in Physiotherapy. During this time, Alex’s commitment to excellence expanded as he worked with a professional rugby team, providing treatment and contributing to the concussion-spotting team on game days. Alex’s dedication extended to organizing and facilitating exercise classes for stroke survivors, showcasing a holistic approach to rehabilitation.

Notably, Alex was one of two students selected for a specialized clinical residency at one of London’s largest hospitals. Here, he worked with patients recovering from traumatic injuries, balancing hands-on care on some days with participation in a large-scale research project on others. Later, Alex published his research with the British Journal – Physiotherapy Pain Association, highlighting his contributions to advancing clinical practice.

This year, Alex has expanded his services to include Kinetic Training — a hybrid active physiotherapy approach tailored to each patient’s individual goals and training style. These sessions integrate rehabilitation with performance-focused movement strategies, bridging the gap between injury recovery and long-term strength, mobility, and resilience.

Alex’s journey has been marked by diverse experiences and a commitment to personalized care, which has positioned him as a ready clinician & active physiotherapy instructor at Kinetic Physiotherapy & The Pond . Alex is committed to guiding you back to your optimal function & well-being and is excited to help you embark on your journey to recovery!
